3 Traits in Marriage That Also Make you a Better Muslim

Islam is a religion of peace and love. Its no surprise to Muslims that there are many acts of love that are encouraged by Islam, and that will get you closer to Allah. Here is a lists of 3 things to do in your marriage that also make you a better Muslim.

Be loving and caring

Love is the language that transcends each and every religion. Your affection and care towards your other half will not only make you a better Muslim but a better person.

It is also common in a relationship for couples to lose that initial spark, which effects the marriage negatively. To keep the spark alive, follow in the steps of no other than our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. His whole life is an example in itself, and there are hundreds of Ahadith which narrate the importance of love and care in marriage and in life in general.

Be patient

Islam teaches about having patience in great detail and in the Quran Allah says in Surat Al Baqarah: Verse 153

“O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”

Having patience will not only make you a better husband or wife but it also will make you a good Muslim, thus getting you closer to Allah.

Imam Ahmed is reported to have said “Allah has mentioned patience in the Qur’an in ninety places.”

Be Respectful to each other

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The entire world is full of resources, and among them the best resource is a righteous wife.” Sahih Muslim, Vol. 2, #3465

For men he ﷺ said “The most complete believer is the best in character, and the best of you is the best to his womenfolk.” Tirmidhi #1162

Having mutual respect for each other is crucial in marriage and is also emphasized in both the Ahadith and the Quran – Stating that men are like garments for their wives and wives are the same for their men.

Love it! Everything I read is true and I believe in them firmly. I am so impressed that I feel that it is time for a new wife-This time ten year younger than myself.
